Flu Shot Shortage In Nova Scotia (Our Office has no Further immunization Supply)

The supply of flu vaccines has dried up in the province during peak influenza season, prompting Nova Scotia’s chief medical officer of health to issue a memo to family physicians asking that remaining shots be prioritized for babies and small children.

“I encourage immunization providers to collaborate with one another so that the remaining influenza vaccine can be used effectively for your patients who are still seeking immunization,” Strang said in his letter dated Jan. 21.

“I also request that the first priority for vaccine be infants who recently turned six months old and those children requiring their second dose.”
